Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the Geriatric Nursing Assistant will be responsible for giving direct care to promote the residents’ safety and comfort, while recognizing their needs and rights. Successful candidates must be dependable, compassionate, have good time management and communication skills, and have a desire to work with the elderly. Requirements also include CPR certification and a current Maryland Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification.     Staff Development Instructor

    Description St. Mary’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is looking for a Staff Development Instructor. This position supports and practices the philosophy, objectives and standards of the Center and participates in the revision of these as necessary to ensure quality care to all residents. The Staff Development Instructor coordinates staff training throughout the facility, including orientations, refresher/compliance-mandated training, and in-service education. To be successful in this position, the candidate will need experience in designing and developing instructional content and learning solutions in support of a healthcare audience. Responsibilities will include monitoring the outcomes of nursing service activity, while ensuring compliance with all facility and regulatory agency standards, policies and procedures. Primary duties will include, but not be limited to: - Conducting needs analysis by establishing and maintaining relationships with management staff regarding training needs. - Skillfully and creatively design and deliver in-services and instruction for staff. - Evaluating effectiveness of learning solutions. - Utilizing technology and other methodology to enhance the learning experience and ability for staff to participate in professional development activities. - Monitor and coordinate training mandated by regulation. - Oversee and coordinate the new hire orientation process to ensure new staff are properly trained and become competent and successful in their roles as soon as possible. - Perform on-line license renewals with payment for all GNAs. - Oversee Foundation scholarship program.
    Required Skills Qualifications include: Current RN license. Two years of experience as an RN. Experience developing learning solutions and delivering training in a healthcare environment. Train-the-Trainer or equivalent instructional design certification strongly preferred. Must be familiar with a variety of nursing concepts, practices, and procedures, plus experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This individual will be required to perform a variety of tasks, creatively and with flexibility. Good interpersonal skills and documentation abilities are essential. Strong time management and organizational skills required. The ability to be present on all three shifts is essential to be successful in this position. Competitive compensation package.
